The McDaniel Road Reconstruction project, commissioned by the Shire of Broome, aimed to upgrade a key 950m-long connector road within Broome’s Heavy Industrial Area Precinct. As a vital access route for businesses and a connection to Archer Street and De Castilla Street, maintaining traffic flow during construction was a critical priority.
Scope of Works
As the Head Contractor, Roadline was responsible for delivering a full road reconstruction while ensuring minimal disruption to industrial operations. The scope included:
- Pulverising and removing the existing bitumen and road pavement
- Constructing a new in situ subgrade
- Installing a new basecourse, 2-coat bitumen seal, and kerbing
- Removing existing crossings and installing new culverts, headwalls, and concrete crossovers
- Conducting detailed earthworks and shaping overland flow swale drains along road shoulders
Outcome
The project was delivered within the 6-month timeframe with:
- Zero safety incidents
- Minimal disruption to businesses and road users
- A fully upgraded industrial road, enhancing long-term accessibility and durability
